12 Killed in Mass Shooting at Ecuador Cockfighting Arena
At least 12 people were killed and nine others were injured in a mass shooting at a cockfighting arena in Manabi province, Ecuador on Thursday night. The incident took place at a venue in Valencia, within the El Carmen canton, where rooster fights are held.
Witnesses reported that a group of masked men in military attire arrived in three vehicles and opened fire on the people present at the event. The attackers reportedly stole prize money amounting to around $20,000 before fleeing the scene.
Most of the victims were taken to hospitals in the nearby city of Santo Domingo, where the fatalities were confirmed. Police suspect that the attack is connected to organized crime gangs and have launched an investigation. Authorities have offered a reward for any information leading to the identification of the attackers.
