2025-2026 Fulbright FLTA Program

The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe has announced the opening of applications for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program for the 2025-2026 academic year. This program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), is designed for early career English teachers or university professionals in related fields to teach Russian language in an American college or university. Candidates from Tajikistan’s rural, remote, and underrepresented regions who have a strong record of service to their community and leadership experience will be given priority.

Participants in the FLTA Program will have the opportunity to enhance their teaching skills, improve their English proficiency, and learn more about American society and culture. They will serve as teaching assistants for their native language to U.S. students and engage with their host communities through various activities. It is important to note that participants must return to their home countries upon completion of the program.

To apply for the program, candidates must submit an online application by January 20, 2025, through the online management system at https://apply.iie.org/flta2025. Eligibility requirements include being a Tajik citizen residing in Tajikistan throughout the selection process and committing to return to Tajikistan after the program. Applicants must also possess a U.S. Bachelor’s degree equivalent by June 1, 2025, and demonstrate fluency in English through specified test scores.

The program does not support dependents or family members accompanying participants, and candidates with active applications for permanent residency or diversity visa lottery will not be considered. Plagiarism in applications will not be tolerated, and all application materials must be submitted online.

Successful candidates will be notified of their awards between early March and late May 2025. Participants will receive a monthly stipend, health benefits, and travel support during the program.
