69th Anniversary Ceremony Celebrates Founding of BRTK
The 69th anniversary of the establishment of the foundations from 454th and the British Turkish Cypriot community was commemorated in a ceremony held at the Foundations Administration. President Ersin Tatar, Prime Minister Ünal Üsel, and several ministers attended the event.
During the ceremony, Mustafa Tümer, the General Manager of the Cyprus Foundations Administration, highlighted the significant milestone of transferring foundation goods and management from the British Colonial Administration to the Turkish Cypriot community. He emphasized the role of foundations in Cyprus, dating back to the Ottoman period, in various areas such as education, health, support for the poor, and maintenance of religious structures.
President Ersin Tatar acknowledged the historical importance of the Cyprus foundations and praised the Foundations Administration for its contributions to the development of the TRNC. The ceremony also included an award ceremony for primary schools showcasing the “Foundations’s Contributions to Society,” where students were recognized for their achievements.
The event served as a reminder of the rich history and heritage of the Cyprus foundations and their ongoing impact on the Turkish Cypriot community. It emphasized the cultural and social significance of these institutions in shaping the identity and development of the region.
