Agriculture Ministry Predicts Stable Potato Prices
The Ministry of Water Resources and Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan has announced that a favorable wholesale price for potatoes is currently in effect for farmers in the country. Officials have stated that there are no further price increases expected, providing an opportunity for farmers to make a good profit by selling their potato stocks now.
With the wholesale price of potatoes exceeding 40 soms per kilogram, farmers are encouraged to take advantage of this moment. The retail price of potatoes in the markets of the republic currently ranges between 35 and 65 soms, with no anticipated rise in prices. The ministry has also issued a warning that the upcoming appearance of new potatoes in May may lead to a reduction in prices.
As of April 14, 2025, a total of 8,298 tons of potatoes have been imported into Kyrgyzstan, while approximately 16,000 tons have been exported. It is important to note that all potato products undergo thorough laboratory testing to ensure quality and safety.
