AKPA Delegation Meets with Turkish Grand National Assembly Delegation
The Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (AKPA) delegation recently met with the parliamentary delegation from the Republic of Turkey in a working meeting. The meeting, which was headed by Tuğrul Türkeş, aimed to discuss various important issues concerning both parties.
During the meeting, the TRNC delegation, led by UBP Deputy Oğuzhan, included CTP Deputy Aramağan Candan, the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry Ali Kamacıoğlu, the President of the Turkish Cypriot Bar Association Hasan Esendağlı, and the TRNC Strasbourg Representative Selda Çimen. Together, they addressed the recent arrest attempts made by the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus in relation to the construction sector in the TRNC.
Aside from discussing these pressing matters, the AKPA delegation also participated in the General Assembly meeting and delivered speeches in the parliament. Additionally, they conducted meetings with the Council of Europe Directorate General for Human Rights and the Rule of Law to further collaborate on important matters.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to strengthen the relationship between the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly and the parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Turkey, as well as address key issues affecting the TRNC. The parties involved remain committed to fostering cooperation and finding solutions to challenges faced by the region.
