“We are on the threshold of a new stage of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation,” the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, said, speaking at the VI Kyrgyz-Russian Economic Forum taking place in the Issyk-Kul region.

Japarov highlighted the importance of flexibility, initiative, and strategic vision in responding to modern geopolitical and economic challenges. He emphasized the implementation of the Intergovernmental Program of Economic Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia for 2022-2026, which serves as a roadmap for the future of the two countries.

The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund has played a crucial role in financing over 3,400 projects with $727.5 million over the past decade, fostering business development and strengthening economic ties between the two nations. Japarov also pointed out promising areas for development such as the textile and garment industry, agro-food sector, and tourism.

The Kyrgyz textile and garment industry is poised to enter international markets through platforms like Wildberries and Ozon. Additionally, Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural resources can supply high-quality organic products to Russia, while the country’s natural beauty attracts Russian tourists. Russian investors are also investing in projects like the Karkyra ski resort and Baitik Resort complex in the Issyk-Kul region.

The economic forum, organized by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, aims to further enhance economic cooperation and strengthen ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
