Ala-Too Square in Bishkek Shut Down for Renovation
The central Ala-Too square in Bishkek closed for reconstruction from April 27. The press service of Bishkek City Hall reported that the guard of honor has been removed until the end of the work.
According to the City Hall, the plan includes reconstructing the existing fountain groups with the replacement of water pipes and changing the external parameters of fountain structures on the western and eastern sides, as well as in the central part of the square. The concept of the project by Bishkekglavarhitektura is based on the existing architectural composition, which is considered a monument of architecture and urban planning.
In addition, a project for a 100-meter flagpole has been developed by the municipal enterprise. Currently, the height of the flagpole is 45 meters, but the new project aims to double this height.
While the roadway will remain open, only the recreation areas within the square will be closed during the reconstruction period.
Residents and visitors to Bishkek are advised to plan their routes accordingly and take note of the changes in the central square as the renovation work progresses.
