Anatolian Rugs: A Journey from Color to Motif

The From Color to Motif Anatolian Rugs Exhibition has opened in Sultanahmet, showcasing a stunning collection of original works that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Turkey.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu inaugurated the exhibition, emphasizing its significance in preserving and showcasing Turkish culture and history. “This exhibition has a special meaning for us as it reveals the richness of our cultural heritage,” he said.

The exhibition features a selection of original works from the museum’s inventory, including weaving samples such as rugs, blankets, saddlebags, sacks, horse, and camel covers, with the majority originating from Anatolian weavings. Mumcu highlighted the special pieces in the collection, particularly recommending visitors to see the carpet with Atatürk’s portrait and the carpet with the lines of the National Anthem.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Istanbul Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Coşkun Yılmaz, TİEM Director Ekrem Aytar, and art lovers. The exhibition is part of the 100th-anniversary events of the Republic and will be open for visitors to explore until the end of the year.
