Approval of Budget Draft for 2025 by Parliament – BRTK
The 2025 Fiscal Year Budget Bill for the Free Port and Regional Directorate, totaling 252 million 800 thousand TL within the Ministry of Economy and Energy, has been approved by the General Assembly of the Republic Assembly.
During the session, Committee Chairperson Resimye Eroğlu Canaltay presented the report of the Economy, Finance, Budget, and Planning Committee on the bill, highlighting that it was accepted by a majority vote in the Committee.
CTP Deputy Salahi Şahiner raised concerns about privatization tenders, emphasizing the importance of following the legal procedures outlined in law no. 24/2012. In particular, Şahiner pointed out the lack of a preliminary report for a recent tender involving the Dock Workers Company, stating that such reports are essential before proceeding with any tender.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı defended the handling work tender as part of a larger privatization project, highlighting its alignment with Ministry of Finance regulations.
Further discussions during the session included remarks from CTP Deputy Armağan Candan, who inquired about promises made to citrus producers and whether any progress had been made in fulfilling them.
Independent Deputy Hasan Tosunoğlu shared his perspective as a businessman in the country for over three decades, emphasizing the challenges faced by entrepreneurs. Tosunoğlu stressed the importance of monitoring economic processes and criticized the lack of effective economic policies in the country.
Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş assured that citrus producers will receive payment for their products promptly.
After thorough deliberation, the bill was approved with 28 votes in favor and 7 against. The discussions and decisions made during the session reflect the ongoing efforts to manage the country’s budget effectively and address key economic challenges.
