Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre Puts Focus on New Negotiation Approach in New Year Message
Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre of the Assembly of the Republic has emphasized that in the coming year, they will maintain a resolute pursuit of the new negotiation approach, with the support of Motherland Turkey and the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Töre made it clear that they will not compromise the state and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people on the island of Cyprus.
Töre acknowledged that Turkish Cypriots are facing numerous challenges and that they have no choice but to move forward into the future hand in hand with Motherland Turkey. He also pointed out the significance of the upcoming year, as it marks the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey and the 40th anniversary of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. In light of this, Töre stated, “As the Republic of Turkey steps into a new century, we will continue to work as Turkish Cypriots, a part of the great Turkish Nation, to live and keep alive the spirit of the Turkish century.”
In his New Year message, Töre extended his wishes for the health, happiness, and well-being of all citizens, as well as the people of Motherland Turkey and the entire Turkish Nation.
Reflecting on the past year, Töre acknowledged the pain and challenges, including the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, as well as the continued political instability and tragic traffic accidents that have plagued the country. Despite these hardships, Töre admitted to the positive steps taken by the government to address the pressing issues faced by the nation.
Furthermore, Töre expressed gratitude for the country’s acceptance as an observer member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkish States and recognized the significant improvements brought about by the investments made in the nation with support from Turkey, particularly at Ercan Airport.
Töre also expressed concern over the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia and condemned the violence perpetrated by Israel against Gaza, emphasizing the need for countries to be more sensitive to these issues and to stand up against injustice and human rights violations.
As the new year unfolds, Töre pledged to continue to work tirelessly to protect the rights and sovereignty of the Turkish Cypriot people and to seek a brighter future for them in collaboration with Motherland Turkey.
In closing, Töre once again extended his warmest wishes for the year ahead, hoping for a future filled with health, happiness, and prosperity for all.
