Awaiting Today’s Interest Rate Decision
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) is set to hold a meeting today led by Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The meeting will be focused on discussing the monetary policy and making decisions regarding interest rates.
Last month, the policy rate was maintained at 50 percent during the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting. The decision on whether to keep the rate unchanged or make adjustments will be announced at 14:00 on the same day.
Market participants have been following closely the expectations for the policy rate. According to the CBRT Market Participants Survey, the current month-end expectation for the policy rate is at 50 percent. However, there has been a slight decrease in the expectations for the next 3 months, dropping to 48.10 percent. Similarly, the long-term expectation for the next 12 months has decreased from 34.57 percent to 33.30 percent.
Investors and analysts will be keeping a close eye on the outcome of today’s meeting and the announcement of the interest rate decision. The decisions made by the CBRT have significant impacts on the Turkish economy and financial markets, making these meetings crucial for stakeholders.
