Azerbaijani Rowers Shine at President’s Cup-2025
Azerbaijani rowers have showcased their exceptional talent at the President’s Cup-2025, an international tournament honoring the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The competition took place at the Kur Olympic Training and Sports Center in Mingachevir and concluded with impressive results for the local athletes.
In the category for those born in 2009-2010, the pair of Ivan Vorobyanski and Huseyn Hasanov earned a silver medal in the 200-meter kayak race. Following closely, Vajib Babayev and Nuran Rahimli secured a bronze medal in the same event.
For the younger category of athletes born in 2011-2012, Aziz Ahmadli and Kamal Taghiyev also achieved a silver medal, while their fellow countrymen Sanan Jafarzade and Tahir Movsumov captured a bronze medal.
Among those born in 2006-2007, Nurlan Pashayev and Jahangir Mammadli brought home another silver award in rowing, further contributing to Azerbaijan’s medal tally.
In a standout performance, Alimurad Hajizada, competing in the 2009-2010 age group, excelled in the 1000-meter kayak race and clinched a gold medal.
Overall, Azerbaijani representatives had an outstanding presence at the tournament, previously winning eight medals (three silver and five bronze) before adding six more to their collection. This success not only highlights the country’s rowing talent but also commemorates the legacy of Heydar Aliyev through sports.
