Kurtulmuş, in his speech at the reception organized by the Ankara Embassy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the TRNC, congratulated the Turkish Cypriots on the national day of the TRNC.

Emphasizing that 41 years have passed since the declaration of the TRNC, and that the TRNC is now a settled, deep-rooted republic that has proven itself to the world and has covered significant distances, Kurtulmuş continued his words as follows:

During this period, it was the Turkish Cypriots who demonstrated their intention to live in peace on the island and made every sacrifice to take these steps. But unfortunately, some circles, especially European countries, have chosen to constantly punish the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and marginalize the Turkish Cypriots in the international arena, despite their positive attitudes. I would like to state clearly that after all these years of experience and development, there is no choice left on the Island of Cyprus other than a bi-communal option. The Turkish Republic of Cyprus exists and will continue to exist until the end of time. As the State of the Republic of Turkey, we will continue our struggle today, as we did yesterday, to defend the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in all areas and to guarantee all kinds of rights and laws of our Cypriot compatriots, with all the means at our disposal.”

Stating that they now understand much better why the July 20 Peace Operation was carried out after seeing what happened in Gaza, Kurtulmuş said, “After seeing what happened in Gaza, we understand much better how important a step Turkey’s guarantorship is. In this sense, Türkiye will continue to protect the rights and laws of our brothers in Northern Cyprus.” he said.

Numan Kurtulmuş emphasized that there are de facto two states on the island, and that it is against rights, law and reason to consider the southern entity as somehow representative of the whole of Cyprus.

Stating that accepting the existence of these two states and showing that they can live together in peace is one of the most important responsibilities of the Turkish Cypriot State, Kurtulmuş said:

“As Türkiye, we will continue our diligent struggle to see that there is no other way than a two-state solution and to strengthen the Turkish Cypriot State and increase its international recognition. Long live the unity, brotherhood and friendship of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey until the end of time. Hopefully, we will see the Turkish Cypriot State becoming much more recognized in every field in the coming days. We will see together what the consequences of this mean. We will continue to fight for this cause. “On this occasion, on behalf of the State of the Republic of Turkey and the 85 million citizens of the Republic of Turkey in Turkey, I would like to express my congratulations to our Cypriot compatriots on this national day.
