The Republic Assembly Economy, Finance, Budget and Planning Committee approved the Higher Education Planning, Supervision, Accreditation and Coordination Board (YÖDAK) budget of 62 million 871 thousand TL by majority vote.

YÖDAK President Aykut Hocanın answered Özuslu’s questions. He stated that there are currently 23 licensed universities, 22 of which are active, and three of them are campus universities in Turkey. The teacher stated that the total number of students in the country is 101 thousand 138, of which approximately 15 thousand are inactive, and that all students are now registered in the YÖKSİS system.

Stating that, as YÖDAK, they currently aim to ensure integration through immigration, Hocanın added that a regulation that will help control people who do not come here with the intention of studying has come into force.

Stating that a very comprehensive audit was carried out at Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University regarding the “fake diploma” issue, Hocanın noted that they prepared a report on the issue and that disciplinary investigations are continuing and then they will make decisions for sanctions. Stating that the files were examined by visiting other universities, Hocanın explained that many institutions ask questions about the diplomas of the people who applied to them.

In response to the question about the students brought to the country by agencies, Hodja said that it is not easy to control them and that the legal basis must be prepared in this regard.

The teacher said that it was not possible to fulfill their responsibilities with the current number of personnel, and that the institution did not have a car and that they went to the inspections with their own vehicles. The teacher said, “It is not possible for us to fulfill our functions with this system. “We need to increase our staff and create a supervisory board…” he said.

Speaking about YÖDAK, Erkut Şahali emphasized that it is not essential to increase the human resources of the institution.

Hodja stated that YÖDAK should generate income, increase its staff and establish a supervisory board.
