Bishkek’s Territory Expanded Officially

Bishkek Officially Expands its Territory
Bishkek, the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, has officially become larger following the approval of the annexation of new territories by the City Council. This decision was made based on a presidential decree and has been confirmed by the City Hall, as reported by 24.kg news agency.
As a result of this annexation, the area of the capital has increased significantly, growing from 12,900 hectares to 38,600 hectares. The newly included territories now consist of various aiyl aimaks and residential areas from different districts surrounding Bishkek.
The administrative and territorial reform, which started as a pilot project in six regions of Kyrgyzstan, including Bishkek and Osh cities, aims to enlarge aiyl aimaks and cities while maintaining the same number of administrative districts. This expansion will almost triple the territory of the capital city. Additionally, the Mayor of Bishkek will now have the authority to approve the budget and tariffs for the city.
This development signifies a major change in the city’s administrative structure and is expected to bring about positive implications for the overall governance and development of Bishkek. Stay tuned for more updates on this evolving situation.
