Brazil Seeks India and Indonesia’s Help for Ukraine Peace Talks

Former Brazilian President Lula da Silva has called for the creation of an international organization of major economies to bring an end to the Ukraine-Russia war. During a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, da Silva proposed inviting India and Indonesia to participate in negotiations aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the conflict. He stressed that it is not a time for war but for diplomacy, and that continued fighting will only result in more deaths. Da Silva also revealed that Brazil’s National Security Advisor, Celso Amorim, has visited both Russia and Ukraine to listen to their perspectives, and that intermediaries will talk to other countries in an attempt to end the war. Da Silva first proposed the idea of establishing an international organization similar to the G20 in January 2023.
