Breaking News: Gaza Ceasefire in Action – Minute by Minute Updates!

Mediator Qatar has officially announced that the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has taken effect as of 06.30 GMT (09.30 GMT) on Sunday. This comes after intense negotiations to bring an end to the recent hostilities in the region.

The agreement is set to be implemented in three stages. The first phase, expected to last six weeks, initially called for the release of 33 Israeli hostages and 735 Palestinian detainees. However, the updated figure now stands at 1,890 Palestinians to be released.

Israel has made it clear that there will be no ceasefire until it receives a list of the 33 hostages to be released by Hamas. Among them are foreign hostages, including Americans, who are expected to be freed alongside the Israeli captives.

Reports indicate that three female Israeli civilian hostages held in Gaza are set to be released on the first day of the ceasefire. The Israeli Ministry of Justice has confirmed that 95 Palestinian detainees will also be released after 16:00 local time on Sunday.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office has revealed that the vast majority of the hostages to be released are Israeli or dual citizens, with a few others coming from countries such as Thailand, Nepal, and Tanzania.

Looking ahead, negotiations for the second and third phases of the ceasefire are scheduled to begin on the 16th day of the agreement’s implementation. An operations room will be established in Cairo to oversee the implementation of the agreement, with representatives from Egypt, Qatar, the USA, Israel, and Palestinian officials all playing a role in this monitoring process.

As the ceasefire gets underway, hopes are high that this will bring an end to the violence and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
