British Experts Lead Development Workshops for Turkmen Educators and Students

A delegation from the University of Westminster, led by Vice-Chancellor Andrew Linn, recently visited Turkmenistan to conduct training sessions for faculty and students of several educational institutions in the country. The visit, which took place from January 19th to 25th, aimed to provide valuable insights and knowledge on various topics related to modern pedagogy and English language teaching.

Representatives from the British university facilitated training sessions at the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, and the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seyitnazar Seydi. The topics covered during the sessions included methodologically effective and technologically advanced practices in pedagogy, as well as curriculum development.

One of the key highlights of the training was the discussion on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), a unique approach to English language teaching that emphasizes the integration of language learning with subject content. This methodology allows students to not only improve their language skills but also gain knowledge in various subjects through the English language.

Additionally, the training sessions touched upon current trends in foreign language teaching such as English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and English for Complex Texts (EFL). These specialized approaches to language learning cater to the specific needs and requirements of students, ensuring a more tailored and effective learning experience.

Overall, the visit by the University of Westminster delegation provided valuable insights and expertise to Turkmen educators and students, enhancing their knowledge and skills in the field of pedagogy and English language teaching.
