Campaign Rivalry: İYİ Party and CHP Candidates Battle in Bidding War
The mayoral race in Ankara is heating up as the candidates of the İYİ Party and CHP exchange accusations and harsh words. İYİ Party candidate Cengiz Topel Yıldırım has claimed that there is rigging in the tender process of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality under the management of Mansur Yavaş, stating that “There is no 5 billion lira in the municipality’s coffers.” Yıldırım also pointed out that all 27 work items have the same unit prices, indicating potential tender irregularities.
In response, Mansur Yavaş accused Yıldırım of having experience in rigging tenders and questioned his mental health. Yavaş challenged Yıldırım to take the matter to the prosecutor’s office if there is any evidence of wrongdoing.
Furthermore, Yavaş alleged that Yıldırım had approached him to be a candidate for the CHP in Mamak, but was refused. Yıldırım denied this claim and accused Yavaş of being a chronic liar or suffering from severe schizophrenia.
As the election date approaches, tensions between the two candidates continue to escalate. It remains to be seen how these accusations will impact the outcome of the election in Ankara.
