Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz Highlights Turkey’s Economic Growth Strategy at Meeting with Business People in Manisa
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz recently met with business people at a gathering in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone, where he discussed Turkey’s economic growth and strategies for combating inflation.
Yılmaz emphasized that despite global challenges, Turkey has maintained steady economic growth, surpassing Europe in terms of economic expansion. He stated, “Turkey’s economy grew by 5.5% in 2022, outperforming the world average of 3.6%. We are on track to achieve our growth target of 4.4% in our medium-term program.”
In his speech, Yılmaz highlighted the importance of shifting the focus of growth away from consumption towards investment, exports, and production. He stressed the government’s commitment to reducing inflation while supporting economic growth. Yılmaz also mentioned that Turkey’s economy exceeded the 1 trillion dollar mark for the first time in 2023.
Addressing the issue of inflation, Yılmaz stated, “Price stability and the fight against inflation are our citizens’ priorities and our priorities. We have implemented programs focused on reducing inflation through monetary and fiscal policies and structural reforms.”
Yılmaz also discussed Turkey’s success in the service sector, particularly in tourism, where the country has demonstrated significant growth. He revealed that Turkey aims to attract 60 million tourists and generate 60 billion dollars in revenue this year.
Furthermore, Yılmaz commended Turkish exporters for their resilience in the face of challenging global conditions, noting that despite adverse demand trends, Turkey’s exports have performed well. He also highlighted improvements in the foreign trade balance and the reduction of the current account deficit.
Regarding employment, Yılmaz announced that Turkey closed 2023 with a single-digit unemployment rate, marking a milestone in economic progress. He emphasized the government’s commitment to budget discipline and transparency, with a focus on allocating resources to earthquake recovery and disaster prevention measures.
