Chile to Intervene in Genocide Case Against Israel at ICJ
Chilean President Gabriel Boric Takes Action Against Israeli Attacks in Gaza
Chilean President Gabriel Boric has announced that Chile will intervene in the case filed against Israel for their actions in Gaza under the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. Speaking at a Congress meeting, Boric condemned the Israeli army for indiscriminately targeting innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Boric expressed his deep concern over the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Gaza, stating that the Israeli attacks have led to the deaths of over 35 thousand people, many of whom are women and children. He emphasized the urgent need for the international community to react to the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure.
The Chilean President made it clear that Chile will be taking the case against Israel to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for violating the genocide convention. He stressed that Chile does not condone any form of barbarism, including Hamas’ terrorist attacks, and called for the unconditional release of all hostages.
Boric’s strong words received a standing ovation from those present at the Congress, demonstrating widespread support for Chile’s stance against the violence in Gaza. The Chilean President’s decision to take action against Israel’s actions in Gaza sends a powerful message of solidarity with the victims of the conflict and a firm commitment to upholding international humanitarian law.
