Counterfeit License Plates Smuggled from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan
Two citizens of Kyrgyzstan were caught in an illegal import scheme involving two Honda Fit cars from 2008, as reported by the South-Western Customs. The Customs Service’s press release revealed that the cars, which were originally owned by other individuals, were brought into Kyrgyzstan from Kazakhstan through Uzbekistan.
The vehicles were inspected at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz state border, where it was discovered that false registration license plates and vehicle registration certificates were used to bring them into the EAEU customs territory. This illegal activity resulted in a staggering 861,454 soms worth of damage to the state budget.
The Customs Service has taken action by registering the illegal import case and forwarding all collected materials to the prosecutor’s office of Osh region for further investigation.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to proper import regulations and the consequences of attempting to bypass them. Authorities continue to keep a close watch on illegal activities at the country’s borders to maintain the integrity of the customs process.
