
Croatian Presidential Election Goes to Second Round of Polls

The 8th presidential election in Croatia is underway, with citizens heading to the polls between 07.00-19.00 local time to cast their votes. In this second round of the election, current President Zoran Milanovic, backed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), is going head-to-head with former Education Minister Dragan Primorac, the candidate of the ruling center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), in a bid to become the next president of the country.
The election results are expected to be announced unofficially before midnight. Presidential elections in Croatia are held every 5 years, with the winner being able to serve for a maximum of two terms. In the first round of elections on December 29, Milanovic secured 49.1 percent of the votes, while Primorac received 19.4 percent, paving the way for the second round of voting.
