CTP Calls for Early Elections – BRTK
The Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Tufan Erhürman, has called for early elections in a recent statement following the 5th vote for the presidency of the Parliament in the General Assembly. Erhürman emphasized that there is currently no governing structure in place and that it is necessary to hold elections as soon as possible.
During a press conference with CTP MPs, Erhürman stated that a government should be able to receive a vote of confidence, elect the speaker of the parliament, and pass its budget. He noted that the failure to accomplish these tasks signifies the absence of a functional government.
Erhürman likened the current political situation to an “Unidentified Flying Object,” highlighting the lack of clarity and cohesion among government members. He expressed disappointment in the inability of the government to unite and elect a candidate for the presidency of the Parliament.
Calling on the public to remember these events, Erhürman stressed the need to return to the people’s will and hold elections promptly. He stated that the current situation should mark the end of the government’s claim to rule the country.
Erhürman’s call for early elections comes amidst a political deadlock and uncertainty in the country’s leadership. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold in the coming days.
