Cyprus Theater Festival Extends its Run
Istanbul City Theatres Performs “Oscar” at the 19th Cyprus Theater Festival
The Nicosia Turkish Municipality presented the 19th Cyprus Theater Festival, which showcased a performance of “Oscar” by Istanbul City Theatres. The play, written by Claude Magnier and translated by Asude Zeybekoğlu, was directed by Ersin Umulu, and Hatice Yurtduru served as dramaturgy.
The audience gave a standing ovation to the two-act play featuring Abdullah Topal, Aslı Aybars, Asrın Gurur Kuyucak, Cem Karakaya, Ceylan Çete, Çağrı Büyüksayar, Damla Cangül Yiğit, Hakan Gümüş, Hüseyin Emre Şen, İrem Erkaya, Neslihan Ayşe Öztürk, and Oğuzhan Oğuz. The play, which brought the results of the trick-or-treaters to the stage in a humorous way, received full marks from the theater audience.
Actor Aslı Aybars received flowers from the festival committee and the play will be followed by a children’s play called “One Day My Shoes” on Saturday, June 10. The play will be presented by Istanbul City Theatres and will take place at the RDU Cultural Center starting at 16.00.
Tickets for the festival can be purchased online or from the Nicosia Municipal Theater box office. The Grand Pasha Nicosia is the official accommodation sponsor of the festival, while Rauf Denktaş University is the hall sponsor. The Nicosia Municipality Employees Savings Cooperative and Northern Travel Limited are the silver and transportation sponsors, respectively.
