Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Meets with Turkmenistan Delegation
On 23 April 2025, a meeting took place between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Mr. A.Khvtisiashvili, and members of the Mejlis delegation of Turkmenistan at the MFA of Georgia. The delegation’s visit aimed to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in various spheres.
During the meeting, discussions were centered around the current state and future prospects of collaboration between Turkmenistan and Georgia. The focus was on enhancing political and diplomatic ties, expanding trade and economic relations, fostering cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and working together within international organizations. It was emphasized that Turkmenistan values Georgia’s support for UN General Assembly resolutions such as “2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust” and “Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.”
The significance of high-level visits in building a strong foundation for bilateral relations was highlighted. The importance of the upcoming meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Georgia during the official visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan, as well as the annual political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, was underscored.
Inter-parliamentary relations were also discussed as a crucial tool for enhancing constructive partnership and fostering mutual understanding and trust between the two nations. The activities of inter-parliamentary friendship groups were noted to play a significant role in this regard.
Mr. A. Sarjayev provided insights to Mr. A. Khvtisiashvili on the upcoming celebratory events planned in Turkmenistan to commemorate the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.
In conclusion, both parties expressed their mutual interest in further strengthening and expanding their multifaceted cooperation. The meeting paved the way for closer collaboration between Turkmenistan and Georgia in various fields.
