
Djokovic Dominates Rome without Any Surprises

Novak Djokovic, the world number one Serbian tennis player, has advanced to the third round of the Rome Open. The tournament, held at the Foro Italico complex in Rome, saw Djokovic defeat Argentine opponent Tomas Martin Etcheverry 2-0 with 7-6(5) and 6-2 sets. Last year’s champion, Djokovic has a total of six titles in the Rome Open.
Other notable men’s singles matches of the day included Norwegian Casper Ruud defeating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 2-0 with 6-4 and 6-0 sets, and Italian Jannik Sinner beating Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis 2-0 with 6-1 and 6-4 sets.
In women’s singles, world number one and two-time Rome Open champion, Polish Iga Swiatek advanced to the third round after defeating Russian Anastasia Pavlychenkova 2-0 with 6-0 sets. However, the surprise of the day was the early elimination of last year’s finalist, Tunisian Ons Jabeur. The women’s 4th seed was defeated by Spanish racket Paula Badosa with 6-1 and 6-4 sets.
Other women’s singles matches of the day included Kazakh Elena Rybakina defeating the host country’s Jasmine Paolini 2-0 with 7-6(4) and 6-1 sets, and Russian Daria Kasatkina beating Italian Lisa Pigato 2-0 with 6-1 and 6-2 sets.
