Driver Slapped with 34,880 Lira Fine for Drifting – Latest News from Turkey
The Istanbul Police Department Traffic Inspection Branch Directorate has taken action against a reckless driver who endangered traffic during a wedding convoy in Selimpaşa District. After images of the driver drifting his vehicle went viral on social media, the authorities launched an investigation.
The driver, identified as MA, was soon located and legal proceedings were initiated against him. MA was fined a hefty amount of 34,880 liras in accordance with the Highway Traffic Law, and his driver’s license was confiscated for a period of 60 days. The charges brought against him were for “using transportation vehicles in a way that endangers the safety of people’s lives and property”.
