Olympiakos Defeats Fenerbahce Beko in EuroLeague Play-Off Quarter-Finals
Greece’s Olympiakos triumphed over Turkey’s Fenerbahce Beko in the EuroLeague play-off quarter-finals. Olympiakos started strong with fast attacks and managed to end the first period ahead with a score of 20-15, with Papanikolaou scoring 10 points. Fenerbahce Beko made a comeback in the second quarter, thanks to Guduric’s three consecutive baskets. The team took the lead for the first time in the match with the Serbian player’s free throws in the 16th minute, making the score 29-31. However, Olympiakos caught a 15-0 series against Fenerbahce Beko and increased its lead to 13 points with 29 seconds left: 44-31. The Greek representative went to the dressing room with a 44-33 lead advantage.
In the last section, Sloukas found critical baskets in front of Fenerbahce Beko, who used the bottom of the basket well with Motley in the third period. As a result, Olympiakos entered the final quarter with a 65-52 lead. Fenerbahce Beko attempted to reduce the gap with Guduric’s three-pointers in the fourth quarter, but Olympiakos responded with Vezenkov’s points and won the match 84-72.
The loss meant that Fenerbahce Beko was eliminated from the EuroLeague play-offs, while Olympiakos advanced to the semi-finals. The team will face Anadolu Efes, the Turkish representative, in the next round.
