From Doctor to Chef: Life in Bishkek with Chinmay from India
Chinmay Badodekar, originally from Surat, India, shared his inspiring journey of studying medicine in Kyrgyzstan and becoming a successful chef and restaurant owner in Bishkek with 24.kg news agency.
Chinmay’s decision to pursue a medical education in Kyrgyzstan was influenced by the high costs of medical education in India. He initially started his studies at Tver State Medical University but later transferred to Kyrgyzstan due to the opportunity to study in English, a crucial factor for effective patient communication in the final years of medical training.
After receiving his medical degree in 2019, Chinmay briefly worked as a therapist in India before the tragic loss of his father led him to return to Bishkek to support his family’s restaurant business. Together with his mother and wife, Chinmay now manages a successful restaurant, offering a diverse menu that includes traditional Indian dishes and vegetarian options.
Despite the challenges of language barriers and finding suitable premises, Chinmay’s dedication and passion for cooking have led to the establishment of a thriving restaurant business in Bishkek. He has also expanded his ventures by opening an online store that sells Indian spices, snacks, and other delicacies to a growing customer base.
