Government official linked to cover-up attempt sparks public outrage
Following the disturbing incident at the private kindergarten Tanzilandia in Tashkent, the Senate has taken action by sending a request to the Minister of Preschool and School Education for an explanation. The Ministry has stated that they are currently investigating the situation. However, parents are expressing concerns that the case may be getting covered up.
Reports have surfaced about children at Tanzilandia facing systematic physical abuse. The revelation did not come from the kindergarten’s surveillance cameras but through an audio recording device hidden inside a child’s toy. This discovery was made after a parent noticed changes in their child’s behavior and placed a recording device in their toy before sending them to kindergarten. The recorded footage captured caregivers verbally abusing and physically punishing the children.
Parents have demanded access to the kindergarten’s security footage, which was initially denied. However, after involving the Internal Affairs Department (IAD), they were able to view the recordings. The footage showed caregivers beating children in various areas while putting up a calm and polite facade in spaces monitored by accessible cameras.
There are allegations of a cover-up, with one mother claiming that the owners of Tanzilandia have connections to high-ranking government officials, leading to the suppression of complaints. The head of Tanzilandia, Dilrabo Davlatboy kizi Tursunova, along with others, is said to be involved in concealing the abuse.
The Children’s Ombudsman has issued a statement addressing the situation, noting that complaints have been filed, and an investigation is ongoing. The kindergarten administration has already terminated the contracts of three caregivers involved in the abuse. The Senate has also intervened by requesting clarification from the Minister of Preschool and School Education on the violence against children in kindergartens and the preventive measures being taken.
As the investigation continues, parents are hoping for accountability and justice for the children who have suffered abuse at Tanzilandia.
