Hungarian Teenager Arrested for Alleged Mass Attack Plot with FBI Assistance – Caught on Video
A shocking case has recently emerged in Hungary, as a 15-year-old student from Győr has been arrested for allegedly planning a violent attack targeting specific groups. The swift action by Hungarian law enforcement and the FBI helped in identifying the suspect’s online activities, leading to his apprehension.
The teenager came under investigation after alarming conversations on a social media platform were observed by a chat partner. Statements mentioning “public executions” in both Hungarian and English caught the attention of the FBI, sparking an international cooperation between U.S. and Hungarian authorities.
Reports suggest that the student had planned to target Muslims, Black individuals, and members of the LGBTQ+ community on February 1st. Despite the lack of specific details on the intended attack, the teenager expressed clear intent, stating, “I will do it. Watch the news.”
Following the online discovery, Hungarian authorities acted swiftly, with the Counter-Terrorism Center (TEK) and the National Bureau of Investigation (KR NNI) leading the operation. The teenager was apprehended on January 30th, and a subsequent search of his residence led to the seizure of electronic devices for further investigation.
The ongoing investigation involves interviewing multiple witnesses, as the suspect had no prior criminal record or documented psychological conditions. The prosecutor’s office has requested pretrial detention, and the teenager has been transferred to a juvenile detention center in Budapest. However, he has denied all accusations and appealed the court’s ruling.
The suspect is facing charges of “threatening to commit a terrorist act”, a serious offense under Hungarian law, with his detention approved by the court pending further proceedings.
This incident is not isolated, as a similar case occurred in the Győr-Moson-Sopron area in 2022, where a teenager was arrested for threatening a classmate.
