Increase in Oil Exports via BTC in January

In January 2025, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline saw an average daily oil export volume of 609,000 barrels, according to the latest OPEC monthly update on oil production. This significant amount further solidifies the pipeline’s crucial role in the region’s energy sector.
The BTC pipeline, stretching from Azerbaijan’s capital Baku to the Turkish port of Ceyhan, has been a vital conduit for oil exports since its inauguration in 2006. With a total length of over 1,700 kilometers, the pipeline plays a key role in transporting Azerbaijani crude oil to international markets, providing a reliable and efficient means of export.
The consistent high volume of oil flowing through the BTC pipeline highlights the continued demand for Azerbaijani oil on the global market. Despite fluctuations in oil prices and market conditions, the pipeline has remained a steady source of revenue for Azerbaijan and a crucial component of the country’s energy infrastructure.
As global energy dynamics evolve and demand for oil remains strong, the importance of the BTC pipeline in facilitating oil exports from the Caspian region is set to continue. Its strategic significance in ensuring the efficient transportation of Azerbaijani oil to international markets underscores the pipeline’s role as a linchpin in the region’s energy security and economic development.
