
Kaan: A New Source of Pride for Turkey

President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish republic has hailed the successful first flight of Turkey’s national combat aircraft, Kaan. The president expressed pride in the achievements of the Turkish defense industry and the nation as a whole and congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the Turkish people on this milestone.
In his statement, President Tatar emphasized the significance of this achievement, noting that Turkey has crossed a critical threshold in the production of 5th generation fighter jets. He highlighted that the National Combat Aircraft Kaan, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), demonstrated its capabilities by remaining in the air for 13 minutes and reaching a speed of 230 knots (approximately 426 km/h) at an altitude of 8,000 feet during its first flight.
President Tatar expressed his optimism about the future role of Kaan in protecting the rights and interests of the Turkish nation in the air, citing the aircraft’s high-tech electronic warfare systems and advanced integrated logistics infrastructure.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Turkish Aerospace Industry team, the Presidency of Defense Industries, and all stakeholders involved in the project, President Tatar extended his heartfelt congratulations to those who contributed to the development and production of the national combat aircraft Kaan.
