Kazakh Energy Ministry Initiates 60 Investment Projects
The Kazakh Ministry of Energy has recently announced the formation of a pool of 60 investment projects worth a total of 17 trillion tenge (US$38.1 billion). These projects are aimed at boosting economic growth, ensuring energy security, creating job opportunities, reducing environmental impact, and implementing innovative technologies in energy facilities.
According to a statement from the ministry, the investment projects in the energy sector will focus on various key areas including the commissioning of new energy capacity, construction of gas processing plants, expansion of domestic refineries, development of renewable energy projects, and petrochemical advancements.
The country’s energy balance requires the modernization of existing capacities and the commissioning of new capacities totaling nearly 26 gigawatts (GW) by 2035. Additionally, the pool of investment projects includes plans for the construction of new gas processing plants with a particular emphasis on projects involving renewable energy sources. It is projected that by the end of 2027, 592 megawatts (MW) of green generation will be commissioned.
In 2023, the Ministry of Energy successfully implemented 17 projects totaling 286.5 billion tenge (US$642 million), showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing the country’s energy infrastructure and sustainability efforts.
