Kazakh Foreign Minister Conducts Diplomatic Discussions in New York City
Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu had a productive meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Sept. 29 at the UN headquarters in New York. The discussions focused on cooperation prospects and key issues on the international agenda during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
One of the topics addressed was the initiative to establish a UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, which Nurtleu reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to. He also highlighted Kazakhstan’s support for the UN’s efforts to promote global peace and prosperity.
Guterres praised the strong partnership between Kazakhstan and the UN, recognizing Kazakhstan’s contributions to promoting peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights. He also expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s support for UN initiatives and the establishment of the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development in Almaty.
Nurtleu also participated in the C5+1 Ministerial meeting during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, where he shared President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s vision for Central Asia’s role in the global geopolitical landscape. The meeting emphasized regional integration, economic connectivity, and addressing traditional and emerging threats.
In addition to his meetings with UN officials, Nurtleu held bilateral discussions with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi to explore cooperation prospects and exchange views on regional and global issues. Kazakhstan continues to solidify its diplomatic ties and engagement on the international stage.
