Kazakh Nationals Not Affected by Istanbul Earthquake, Confirms Foreign Ministry

ASTANA – On April 23, Turkish authorities reported a 6.2-magnitude earthquake near Istanbul, with ongoing aftershocks still being felt in the region.

As of now, no Kazakh citizens in Turkey have reached out to the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Istanbul for assistance. The Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with Turkish authorities and Kazakhstan’s diplomatic missions in Turkey.

According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, there are 1,137 registered citizens of Kazakhstan with the Consulate General in Istanbul.

The ministry is urging Kazakh citizens to remain calm and vigilant, and to strictly adhere to the guidelines provided by local authorities.

Reports from Anadolu Agency indicate that a strong earthquake caused injuries to 151 individuals in panic-driven incidents, none of whom sustained life-threatening injuries, as confirmed by officials.
