“Kazakh PM Reveals Strategies for Boosting Machine Industry Growth”

Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister, Alikhan Smailov, has identified key priorities for the country’s machine industry at the recent Machinery Manufacturer Forum in Astana. Smailov stressed the importance of prioritising local production, utilising new technologies and promoting export opportunities as drivers of economic diversification and reduced import dependency. Kazakhstan’s domestic machine industry has grown by 9.4% over the past year and by 36% in the first four months of 2023 alone. However, the industry only satisfies $3.1 billion of the estimated $23 billion demand for its products. If Kazakhstan can successfully increase the competitiveness and affordability of its machine industry, it could see further economic growth and prosperity. The Machinery Manufacturer Forum was attended by senior representatives of the Presidential Administration, central government agencies, regional Akimats, foreign governments, entrepreneurs and industry experts.
