Kazakhstan Dominates Fourth Day of World Nomad Games with 21 Medals
Astana – Kazakhstan’s national team showcased their talent and skill on the fourth day of the World Nomad Games, earning an impressive 21 medals. Among these medals were six gold, seven silver, and eight bronze, bringing the overall count to 69, as reported by the National and Equestrian Sports Center’s press service.
The togyzkumalak team from Kazakhstan stood out with their exceptional performance, securing two gold medals in individual events and another gold in the team competition. The men’s team emerged victorious in assyk atu, while the women’s team excelled in bes assyk. Additionally, Azamat Makulbekov triumphed in the Powerful Nomad competition, claiming the top spot in the absolute weight category after enduring five challenging tests.
In a remarkable display of strength and skill, Kazakhstan’s team triumphed over Russia with a dominating 18-2 victory in the kokpar semi-finals and over Türkiye with a convincing 15-1 win in kok-boru. The team is now set to face the Kyrgyz Republic in the finals, where they will compete against the Kyrgyz team and their own horses.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan has already secured five individual medals in traditional archery, with team competitions ongoing at the Argymak Equestrian Sports Complex.
Looking ahead, the competitions in tenge city and kissing slogan are set to kick off at the ethno-village. The first game day of the national Kyrgyz game ordo will take place at the Alau Ice Arena, featuring 56 athletes from seven countries, including eight representing Kazakhstan.
The Alau Ice Arena will also host ashyrtmaly aba gureshi, a traditional Turkish wrestling event, with 74 athletes from 19 countries, including five from Kazakhstan. Additionally, the Duman Hotel and Sports Complex will host Ovaries, an intellectual game from West Africa, with four Kazakh athletes showcasing their skills.
The World Nomad Games will culminate in a grand closing ceremony on September 13 at 4 p.m. on the main stage, featuring parades, master classes, and award ceremonies to celebrate the incredible achievements of all participating teams and athletes.
