Kazakhstan Expels More Than 1,200 Illegal Migrants, Including Uzbeks
Following a recent special operation targeting illegal migrants in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has deported 1,240 individuals, including Uzbek citizens. The operation revealed nearly 10,000 violations of migration laws throughout the country.
Among the violations identified were 4,500 cases of foreign nationals overstaying their visas, 2,500 instances of illegal employment by foreigners, and 60 individuals working as unauthorized taxi drivers. As a result, Kazakh courts ordered the deportation of the 1,240 foreign nationals, banning them from re-entering Kazakhstan for five years.
Most of those deported were from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, with other cases involving migrants from Bangladesh, Egypt, Italy, Nigeria, and Madagascar. Additionally, 2,200 individuals were fined for failing to report the presence of foreign nationals to the police, and 500 employers were fined for illegally hiring foreign workers.
Authorities also identified individuals who had violated regulations on foreign labor recruitment, leading to criminal investigations under Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code. In one case, a university dormitory manager in the capital was accused of helping 56 migrant workers obtain temporary residence permits by falsely registering them as students in exchange for money.
Overall, the special operation in Kazakhstan has resulted in the deportation of illegal migrants, fines for violators, and ongoing investigations into those involved in organizing illegal migration.
