Kazakhstan Ranks 63rd in 2024 Social Progress Index, Surpasses Global Average

In the latest 2024 Social Progress Index, Kazakhstan has been ranked 63rd among 170 participating states, with an overall score of 69.73 points. This marks an improvement from the country’s 65th position in the 2022 index and once again places Kazakhstan above the global average of 63.44 points. The report was released by Kazakhstan’s Economic Research Institute on Feb. 4.

The Social Progress Index assesses countries based on 12 components to measure their progress in meeting citizens’ social and environmental needs. Kazakhstan’s performance in the index showcases its strengths in various areas, including the academic performance of children in secondary school (6th), access to online government (15th), the number of educated people (26th), and the number of internet users (26th). There has also been positive progress observed in gender equality in secondary education, access to electricity, and the number of mobile subscribers.

In the 2024 ranking, Denmark secured the top position, followed by Norway in second place and Finland in third place. Kazakhstan outperformed several countries in the index, including Qatar (65th), Vietnam (66th), Mexico (69th), Peru (73rd), Russia (76th), China (77th), Uzbekistan (81st), Turkey (85th), and Kyrgyz Republic (86th).

This ranking demonstrates Kazakhstan’s ongoing commitment to advancing social progress and meeting the needs of its citizens. With its continued improvement in the index, Kazakhstan is poised to further enhance its social and environmental performance on the global stage.
