Kazakhstan’s National Team Shines at 2025 Asian Winter Games
The 2025 Asian Winter Games concluded on Feb. 14 in Harbin, China, with Kazakhstan’s national team impressively earning a total of 20 medals. The team secured four gold medals, nine silver medals, and seven bronze medals, ultimately finishing in fourth place in the overall team competition.
According to the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Kazakhstan, the gold medals were won by various athletes and teams. Vladislav Kireyev claimed gold in the singles event for biithlee, the freestyle acrobatics team emerged victorious, the short track relay team excelled, and the men’s national ice hockey team clinched the top spot. Notably, Kazakhstan made history with its first gold medal in freestyle acrobatics, triumphing over strong Chinese opponents. The country also celebrated its inaugural gold in short track, marking a significant breakthrough in the sport. Additionally, the men’s hockey team secured the Asian Winter Games title for the fifth time, showcasing their dominance in the competition.
The silver medals were awarded to exceptional athletes such as speed skater Yevgeny Koshkin, skier Konstantin Bortsov, biathlete Vadim Kurales, and various national teams and individuals who showcased remarkable performances in their respective disciplines.
Furthermore, Kazakhstan’s bronze medalists included cross-country skiers, figure skaters, speed skaters, freestyle acrobats, and biathletes, demonstrating the country’s diverse talent pool across multiple winter sports.
Aside from their remarkable athletic achievements, Kazakh athletes displayed strong team spirit and camaraderie throughout the Games. Short-track skaters, hockey players, and the women’s curling team were often seen cheering on their fellow competitors from the stands, showcasing unity and support within the national team.
