Kazakhstan to Send First Satellite Export to Mongolia
Kazakhstan and Mongolia Sign Investment Agreement to Develop Earth Remote Sensing Satellite System
In a historic move, Kazakhstan and Mongolia have signed an investment agreement to collaborate on the creation and development of an Earth remote sensing satellite system. The agreement was inked on Oct. 29 in Ulaanbaatar, marking the first export of a Kazakh satellite, which was entirely developed by Kazakh engineers.
According to Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev, the independent management of satellites by each side will provide Kazakhstan and Mongolia with access to up-to-date data for monitoring natural resources and developing agriculture. This collaboration will also strengthen the regional satellite infrastructure and highlight Kazakhstan’s growing potential in the field of space technologies.
During the visit, Madiyev also participated in the first meeting of the Kazakh-Mongolian Business Council, held as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Mongolia. Key areas for cooperation in digitalization were identified, including creating an innovative ecosystem, developing startup projects, introducing a digital government (GovTech), and projects in the aerospace industry.
Furthermore, discussions took place regarding cooperation prospects and the exchange of experience between the two countries in the digitalization field. Madiyev visited e-Mongolia, a platform launched in 2020 to simplify access to government services for 85% of Mongolia’s population. Cooperation in digitalization and technology between Kazakhstan and Mongolia is expected to strengthen technical competencies in both countries and enhance the application of new technologies in citizens’ daily lives.
Overall, the collaboration between Kazakhstan and Mongolia in the development of the Earth remote sensing satellite system and other digitalization initiatives paves the way for closer bilateral connections and mutual benefits in the technology sector.
