Kazakhstan to Modernize Border Checkpoints with China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan
Kazakhstan is set to completely modernize border checkpoints with China, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, replacing existing infrastructure with new facilities, as reported by the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic. The aim of this initiative is to increase the carrying capacity of border crossings by at least six times.
The State Revenue Committee of the Republic stated, “In order to develop the country’s transit potential and increase trade turnover with neighboring countries, the Government has begun a full-scale modernization of border checkpoints with the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The modernization includes, in fact, the construction of new border checkpoints with the demolition of old infrastructure that did not meet modern requirements.”
This modernization effort aims to create comfortable conditions for border crossing and improve state control quality. The capacity of automobile crossings is expected to increase sixfold, and with the automation of the entire goods movement cycle, border crossing time is projected to be reduced to just 30 minutes.
This development is a significant step towards enhancing trade and transit opportunities for Kazakhstan with its neighboring countries. With the new infrastructure in place, border checkpoints will facilitate faster and more efficient movement of goods and people, contributing to the economic growth and development of the region.
