“Kazakhstan’s Oil Exports Surge by 75% via Baku Port”
Kazakh national oil transporter KazTransOil has increased the export volume of oil through the Aktau Port to Baku, Azerbaijan, by 75% to 152,400 tonnes in April compared to March, due to an increase in raw materials. The company also shipped 160,200 tonnes of oil from the Aktau Port to the Makhachkala Port. The total volume of Kazakh oil transported for export from the Aktau Port has risen by 24%, or 600,500 tonnes, to 312,600 tonnes, including 115,000 tonnes from the Tengiz field, 19,200 tonnes from the Dunga field, and 178,300 tonnes from the Buzachi Peninsula fields. The move follows instructions from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to increase oil transportation along the Trans-Caspian corridor. Last year, KazMunayGas and Azerbaijan’s SOCAR signed a five-year agreement to transport 1.5 million tonnes of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
