Development of New Resort Town Kendirli in Mangystau Region Underway
The Prime Minister’s press service recently announced plans to implement key infrastructure projects to develop a new resort town, Kendirli, in the Mangystau Region. During his working visit to the region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov explored the tourism potential of the area and highlighted the importance of boosting tourist traffic through significant infrastructure projects.
One of the main attractions in the region is the Kendirli resort zone, which offers an extended bathing season and unique geographical positioning that makes it an attractive destination for tourists. To support this development, plans are underway to construct an international airport, a water preservation plant, and undertake a major repair project for the Zhanaozen-Kenderli-Turkmenistan road.
Meken Uisenov, the akim (governor) of Kendirli village, highlighted the President’s specific task to create a tourist zone in Kendirli, noting the positive impact it will have on reducing the main load of Zhanaozen city. The region has already seen a 9.5% increase in visitors this year, with the volume of services in the tourism sector reaching 6.5 billion tenge (US$13 million).
In the past two years, four major investment projects for the construction of hotels and recreation centers have been completed, with plans for an additional 12 projects from 2025 to 2027 that will create over 500 jobs in the tourism industry. Prime Minister Bektenov emphasized the great prospects for tourism growth in the Mangystau Region, citing the region’s sea, landscapes, and historical monuments as key attractions.
With a focus on developing infrastructure, attracting investments, and building new facilities, the government aims to support the growth of tourism in the area. The relevant ministries and the region’s government have been instructed to monitor these initiatives closely to ensure their success. The future looks bright for Kendirli and the Mangystau Region as they work towards establishing themselves as a top tourist destination in Kazakhstan.
