Kyrgyz President Names Glacier after UAE Founder
Kyrgyzstan President Signs Law Naming Glacier after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan
In a recent announcement, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan signed a law naming an unnamed glacier “Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan” in honor of the founder of the United Arab Emirates. The law, which was adopted by the Parliament on October 5, 2023, designates the geographical name for the glacier No. 354, located on the northwestern slope of the Ak-Shyirak Ridge, in the Bordu River Basin of Jeti-Oguz District of Issyk-Kul Region of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is known for his contributions to the establishment and development of the United Arab Emirates. In addition to naming the glacier after him, President Japarov also announced that one of the schools in the country will be named after the late sheikh.
