Kyrgyzstan Implements Mandatory Marking for Tobacco and Fuels from September 1
Excise marking to be mandatory for certain products in Kyrgyzstan starting September 1, 2024
In an effort to regulate certain products in Kyrgyzstan, mandatory excise marking will be introduced starting September 1, 2024. This decision is based on the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers from February 22, 2022, as reported by the Tax Service.
Manufacturers and importers will be required to mark specific types of goods with an excise stamp from the specified date. These include pipe tobacco, smoking tobacco, snuff tobacco, hookah tobacco (excluding tobacco used as raw material for the production of tobacco products) classified in the Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature as 2403. Additionally, lubricating oils, other oils, additives for lubricating oils containing petroleum or petroleum products, obtained from bituminous rocks, classified in the Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature as 2710197100-2710199800 and 3811210000.
The Tax Service pointed out that the circulation of unmarked balances of these goods will be prohibited after six months from the date of introduction of mandatory excise marking. This move aims to ensure better control and transparency in the market for these specific products.
Overall, this initiative is part of the government’s efforts to regulate the circulation and sale of certain goods in Kyrgyzstan, promoting compliance with necessary standards and regulations for the benefit of consumers and the economy as a whole.
