Kyrgyzstani Ambassador Urges Russia to Protect Labor Mobility
Bishkek – 24.kg news agency reported that Ambassador Kubanychbek Bokontaev, representing the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation, participated in a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia, Alexander Gorovoy, along with other diplomatic representatives from Eurasian Economic Union countries. The meeting focused on the enforcement of a new federal law aimed at expelling foreign nationals who are illegally residing in Russia.
The Russian authorities highlighted the implementation of a “register of controlled persons” and set a deadline of April 30, 2025, for foreigners listed in the register to either legalize their status or leave the country. Ambassador Bokontaev emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of the EAEU Treaty, particularly regarding the freedom of movement of labor for member states.
He stressed the need for any legislative measures to safeguard the rights and privileges of workers from EAEU countries and prevent any adverse consequences that could impact law-abiding individuals. The Ambassador underlined the significance of ensuring that enforcement practices do not hinder the smooth functioning of labor mobility within the union.
