Kyrgyzstanis Returning Home Due to Tightening of Migration Rules in Russia
In recent news, it has been reported that Kyrgyzstanis are returning to their homeland in light of the tightening of migration rules in Russia. Almazbek Baibosov, the First Secretary of the Department for the Protection of Rights and Interests of Citizens of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, shared this information on the air of Birinchi Radio.
Baibosov highlighted that migration patterns around the world are shifting as a result of changes in the policies of major countries that import labor. Despite large movements towards Europe and the United States, Russia remains a primary destination for Kyrgyz citizens due to several advantages it offers, such as the lack of a language barrier, direct flight connections, and traditional fields of employment like trade and services.
However, recent developments have seen stricter enforcement of migration regulations in Russia, prompting many Kyrgyzstanis to return home. Baibosov viewed this trend positively, stating that it is beneficial for the Kyrgyz economy as the country continues to develop and requires its own workforce.
He emphasized that Kyrgyz migrants have recognized the need to comply with legal requirements in Russia, as the country is moving towards greater legalization and control of migration flows to enhance security and combat illegal activities associated with undocumented labor.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by Kyrgyz citizens in navigating the evolving migration landscape, Baibosov noted the efforts being made to facilitate the legalization process. He mentioned the long queues at migration centers, the embassy, and consulates, underscoring the importance of timely action as the deadline for legalizing stays in Russia is set for April 30.
As Kyrgyzstan is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), negotiations are underway to address the increased demand for services related to migration procedures. The goal is to ensure that citizens have the necessary support and resources to comply with regulations while maintaining their rights as they navigate the changing dynamics of international migration.
